Enactment - Interactive Dance Theater

Germany 2017

December 2017 – Interactive Multimedia Dance Theater enactment::interchange enactment::interchange is an interactive multimedia dance theater work that explores the distinction between verbal and non-verbal communication within the context of Eastern philosophy and aesthetics. The full performance runs 65 minutes. Traditional Chinese cosmology, worldview, and temporality are never fixed. Within a single grain of sand, countless worlds may be contained (Diamond Sutra); a thousand years may be but a single breath of the divine tortoise (Zhuangzi). To convey the infinite, formless, and ever-shifting relationships through the finite, tangible medium of language is inevitably to lose their original essence. This is why Zen Buddhism emphasizes "sudden enlightenment" (dunwu)—an enlightenment that is, at its core, an ultimate "experiential" realization.
